Google's largest video site on YouTube announced Thursday that it has reached 1.5 billion users who visit the site every month to watch video, and users watch videos on mobile devices for more than an hour a day. At present, YouTube is expanding video production to sell more digital ads, since video production is important and there are even companies as Imagination Creations which specialize in this subject.
YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki delivered a keynote speech on Thursday at VidCon, the online video exchange conference. On the same day, Wo Xiji in the blog published in the YouTube monthly users reached 1.5 billion news. Google CEO Sundar Pichai also turned to Susan Wojcicki's tweets. YouTube announced in 2013 that active users reached 1 billion.
Susan Wojcicki said subscription service YouTube Red has launched 37 series of programs, creating a "nearly 250 million views." She said YouTube Red is still making 12 new projects. YouTube Red is YouTube's service for entering the original video space.
In addition, YouTube TV will be extended to "10 weeks" to 10 new cities, including Washington, Houston, Atlanta, Phoenix, Detroit, Miami, Orlando and so on.
YouTube has also released a new Virtual Reality (VR) technology called VR180, which makes it easier for video producers to create VR content. YouTube is working with camera manufacturers to develop products that can carry VR180 technology, which can only show the scene before the VR camera, rather than 360-degree panorama. In April this year, Facebook released a support for 360-degree panoramic view of the new VR camera.
